Folo to partner with Texas Tribune on deep-dive reporting projects

We’re coming at you today with some exciting news: Starting in January, Folo Media is partnering with The Texas Tribune to take our reporting on San Antonio’s inequity issues to a new level.

Partnerships are an essential part of Folo’s strategy — in our first few months, we’ve worked with local journalism partners all over San Antonio, and in 2018 we’ll be announcing additional projects with outlets in Texas and beyond.

This partnership with The Texas Tribune is an ideal setup: Morgan Smith, a seasoned Trib reporter on education and politics, will produce deep-dive journalism on poverty and inequity for both Folo and the Tribune. Morgan is a native of San Antonio — she knows the city, and she understands the challenges and opportunities before it. She’s experienced at digging deep into stories that matter for everyone in our region. We’re thrilled that Morgan will be turning more of her attention to our city.

The Texas Tribune is a journalism pioneer and a national leader. Like us, they’re a nonprofit newsroom, and they’ve been doing meaningful work for a long time. We’re delighted to become one of their editorial partners.

Tribune Editor-in-Chief Emily Ramshaw says they share our excitement: “The Texas Tribune is over the moon to be joining this reporting partnership with Folo. It will allow us to reach new and crucial audiences in San Antonio, more deeply cover issues of great importance to us and give one of our longtime reporters an opportunity to stretch her writing muscles.”

Look for stories from Morgan early next year. Meantime, stay tuned for more news of Folo’s momentum as we extend and expand our attention to disparities in San Antonio.
