Editorial Statement

Folo Media is a secular, nonpartisan, nonprofit LLC registered in the state of Texas. We are an editorially independent affiliate of The H. E. Butt Family Foundation, and we are owned by Laity Renewal Foundation, a registered 501(c)3.

See below for our statements on editorial independence, donor transparency, and privacy. For more information, send an inquiry to info@folomedia.org.

We subscribe to standards of editorial independence adopted by the Institute for Nonprofit News:

Our organization retains full authority over editorial content to protect the best journalistic and business interests of our organization. We maintain a firewall between news coverage decisions and sources of all revenue, including our parent organizations, the Laity Renewal Foundation, and The H. E. Butt Family Foundation. Although we are owned by a faith-based organization, we are a secular news organization.

We accept gifts, grants and sponsorships from individuals and organizations for the general support of our activities, but our news judgments are made independently and not on the basis of donor support. Acceptance of financial support does not constitute implied or actual endorsement of donors or their products, services or opinions.

Our organization may consider donations to support the coverage of particular topics, but our organization maintains editorial control of the coverage. We will cede no right of review or influence of editorial content, nor of unauthorized distribution of editorial content.

We abide by the Society of Professional Journalist’s Code of Ethics.

We are committed to the practice of the highest principles and ethical standards of professional journalism.

We are committed to transparency in the funding our organization.

We are owned by Laity Renewal Foundation, a public charity.

LRF receives public donations that go toward the operations of The H. E. Butt Family Foundation. Program revenues from the Foundation’s Laity Lodge and Quiet House are a second source of funding. LRF’s investment portfolio also produces income. The H. E. Butt Family Foundation does not contribute any cash to LRF; it does, however, provide employees, real estate to operate programs, admin offices, etc. While we are not yet actively soliciting donations, in the future, should we choose to receive funding from sources other than Laity Renewal Foundation and The H. E. Butt Family Foundation, we will make public all donors who give a total of $1,000 or more per year.

Accepting financial support does not mean we endorse donors or their products, services or opinions.
